Hello Kanehsatake

I am pleased to announce that Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada have approved Kanehsatake for Phase II of Land Use Planning. Phase II of the Land Use Planning initiative will be focused on the Pine Hill Cemetery. For the past 10 years I have recognized that Pine Hill Cemetery will be to full capacity in a few years, and measures must be taken to address this certitude.
Please be advised that surveyors, contractors, public works, and the lands department will be on site to assess the needs of the cemetery.

I invite all community members to participate in the upcoming information sessions, surveys and possible house to house visits which will take place in the near future. Please take a look at the documentation provided in this mail out and if you have any questions, I would be happy to address all of your concerns.

Best regards,
Amanda Simon, Lands and Estates Manager

It was a big expansion. I think it will take longer than a few years to fill up. I think it should expand onto the golf course if needed. Or create a new cemetery in an open field in the community.

Thank you for your comments. I will be having another information session soon, and ask that you participate in the survey and the comments section of the mock policy.
