{"id":2798,"date":"2020-05-26T12:52:12","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T12:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kanesatake.ca\/wp\/?p=2798"},"modified":"2020-05-26T12:52:12","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T12:52:12","slug":"lands-estates-and-membership-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kanesatake.ca\/wp\/lands-estates-and-membership-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Lands, Estates and Membership Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section bb_built=&#8221;1&#8243;][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.19.7&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hello Everyone,<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lands estates and membership office of the Mohawk Council of Kanehsatake remain closed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please note that both Paige and myself are working from home.\u00a0 Our numbers for inquiries have been provided.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kanesatake.ca\/wp\/lands-estates\/transfers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Lands:<\/u><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Land transfers are now being effectuated on a case by case basis.\u00a0 Only those transfers which are considered urgent are being processed by both my office and then registered at Indigenous Services Canada.\u00a0 Oka Letters are not being issued until ISC staff are back to their offices, however registrations are being registered to the Indian Lands Registry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kanesatake.ca\/wp\/lands-estates\/estates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Estates:<\/u><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am not effectuating any applications for administrator until further notice.\u00a0 Indigenous Services Canada have not given me the go ahead for emergency applications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Completed applications prior to the pandemic are not being processed until further notice.\u00a0 I await further information from ISC as some people have financial obligations towards estates.\u00a0 I will keep you posted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>Membership:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please note that due to the global pandemic Indigenous Services Canada are not processing any application for Indian Status.\u00a0 You can find more information on their website:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sac-isc.gc.ca\/eng\/1100100032374\/1572457769548\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.sac-isc.gc.ca\/eng\/1100100032374\/1572457769548&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1590583408361000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEjBh4yC3l5L4SdLBDnHbzdy7suWA\">https:\/\/www.sac-isc.gc.ca\/eng\/1100100032374\/1572457769548<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Temporary confirmation of registration can be supplied to members of Kanehsatake in emergency situation such as a lost or stolen status card.
